Objective: In this study, we aimed to show whether conditions which cause positive results in 50 gr gestational diabetes screening test also increase the levels of inflammatory markers in pregnant women.
Materials and Methods: Fasting fibrinogen and C-reactive protein levels were measured in 84 pregnant women whom were screened for gestational diabetes with 50 g glucose between 1 11. 2006 and 15 11. 2007. Pregnant women whose blood glucose levels were above or below 140 mg/ dL were compared for CRP and fibrinogen levels.
Results: There were no significant differences between the two groups regarding CRP and fibrinogen levels.
Conclusion: In this study, it was shown that conditions required for diagnosis of gestational diabetes with 100 g glucose did not make any difference in acute phase reactants.
