Objective: Health sector comprises intensive labor including lot of risks which should be dealt with continuously. As a workplace the laboratory of the hospital is in “the most risky” group. The aim of study is to determine the risk perception of laboraory stuff in health services sector

Material and Methods: A questionnaire that showed sociodemographic characteristics, knowledge and awareness of laboratory stuff conducted in Yuzuncu Yil University Dursun Odabaş Medical Center Biochemistry and Microbiology Laboratory Units. Thirty volunteers laboratory stuff working in these units are included the study.

Results: The most frequent occupational risks are; biological (21 times), physical (18 times), psychosocial (17 times), chemical (16 times) and ergonomic (2 times), respectively. The most frequent occupational accident is penetrative and sharp equipment accidents (17 times), the most frequent occupational disease is infection (14 times).

Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that the awareness and knowledge of laboratory stuff about workplace hazards and risks are adequated. However, their knowledge of precaution is inadequated.
