Keywords: Quality control; bias; total quality management |
Objective: The aim of this study, was to determine whether the Troponin I and CK-MB test results
obtained from our laboratory meet the acceptable quality standards.
Material and Methods: Total %CV of troponin I and CK-MB was obtained from internal quality control
results between May and June 2017. % Bias was calculate from three different external quality control programs. Values for the same analyzer and the same method were used. Total Analytical Error (TEa)
was calculated by the formula “% Bias + (1.65 ×% CV)''. TEa values which determined based on
biological variation were used.
Results: The Total Analytical Error values of troponin I and CK-MB tests did not exceed the allowable
total error limits. The effect of % Bias obtained from different external quality control programs on Total
Analytical Error was not observed.
Conclusion: This study emphasized the importance of calculating the total analytical error values of
each laboratory in the analytical process. It has been shown that the Total Analytical Error values which
obtained from external quality control data in our laboratory are within the allowable total error limits.
